Don't Believe the Propaganda - The Sectarian Myth of Iraq

Don't Believe the Propaganda - The Sectarian Myth of Iraq June 18, 2014 " ICH " - " The Guardian " - -   Tony Blair has been widely derided for his attempted justification of the 2003 Iraq invasion , and his claim last weekend that he's blameless over the current turmoil. Unfortunately, though, many of his critics have also bought into a central plank of his argument: that Iraqi society is no more than a motley collection of religions and ethnicities which have been waiting for decades, if not centuries, to slaughter each other and plunge the place into a bloodbath. The main difference between the two sides seems to be that Blair believes western intervention is the answer; some of his critics say Iraq needed a dictator like Saddam to hold the nation together. U.S. Again Gunning For 'Regime Change' In Iraq

U.S. Again Gunning For 'Regime Change' In Iraq By Moon Of Alabama June 19, 2014 " ICH " -  Three days ago we said : The U.S. has conditioned any involvement on the Iraqi government side on a change in its structure towards some "unity government" that would include representatives of the rebellious Sunni strains. Prime Minister Maliki, who received good results in the recent elections, will see no reason to go for that. As expected Maliki declined to follow orders out of Washington DC and he is right to do so. Isn't Iraq supposed to be a sovereign state? No says Washington. It is us who are choosing a new Iraqi prime minister:

The ISIS Fiasco: It’s Really an Attack on Iran

The ISIS Fiasco: It’s Really an Attack on Iran The ISIS Fiasco: It’s Really an Attack on Iran By Mike Whitney June 19, 2014 " ICH " - " Counterpunch " - -   There’s something that doesn’t ring-true about the coverage of crisis in Iraq. Maybe it’s the way the media reiterates the same, tedious storyline over and over again with only the slightest changes in the narrative. For example, I was reading an article in the Financial Times by Council on Foreign Relations president, Richard Haass, where he says that Maliki’s military forces in Mosul “melted away”. Interestingly, the Haass op-ed was followed by a piece by David Gardener who used almost the very same language. He said the “army melts away.” So, I decided to thumb through the news a bit and see how many other jou...

The Destruction and Political Fragmentation of Iraq. Towards the Creation of a US Sponsored Islamist Caliphate

The Destruction and Political Fragmentation of Iraq. Towards the Creation of a US Sponsored Islamist Caliphate June 14, 2014 " ICH " - " GR " - - The Western media in chorus have described the unfolding conflict in Iraq as a “civil war” opposing the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham against the Armed forces of the Al-Maliki government. (Also referred to as Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) or Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)) The conflict is casually described as “sectarian warfare” between Radical Sunni and Shia without addressing “who is behind the various factions”.  What is at stake is a carefully staged US military-intelligence agenda. Known and documented, Al Qaeda affiliated entities have been used by US-NATO in numerous conflicts as “intell...

Gallup: Forty-Two Percent Of Americans Reject The Concept Of Evolution In Humans

Gallup: Forty-Two Percent Of Americans Reject The Concept Of Evolution In Humans June 05, 2014 " ICH " -   Gallup has released a new poll that shows that Americans still reject the concept of evolution of humans in high numbers. Indeed, twice the number of Americans believe that humans were created by God in their current image than there are those who believe in natural evolution. Indeed, those 42 percent believe that man was created by God in the last 10,000 years. That is a considerable difference even if you focus only on anatomically modern humans which appeared in the Middle Paleolithic period about 200,000 years ago. For those who believe in the science behind evolution, the news is not all bad. Nineteen percent believe in evolution without divine involvement while another 31 percent believe that there was evo...

Deserters are Heroes

Deserters are Heroes June 05, 2014 " ICH " - " Dissident Voice " - If Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was a deserter, then he’s a hero. Furthermore, he might have been the only sane American in Afghanistan. That war is not only unnecessary, it is wrong. Bergdahl’s recognition of this fact (if that’s what occurred) proves his sanity. Then again, perhaps he just got tired of killing and the threat of being killed. Or maybe the military’s excessively macho culture got to him. If he did just walk away from his post, it’s clear something cataclysmic happened in his psyche. It is not his fault other soldiers may have been killed searching for him. It is the fault of the government and its supporters that sent the soldiers into war in the first place.

What Excuse Remains for Obama’s Failure to Close GITMO?

What Excuse Remains for Obama’s Failure to Close GITMO? June 03, 2014 " ICH " - " The Intercept " - -   The excuse-making on behalf of President Obama has always found its most extreme form when it came time to explain why he failed to fulfill his oft-stated 2008 election promise to close Guantanamo. As I’ve documented many times , even the promise itself was misleading, as it became quickly apparent that Obama — even in the absence of congressional obstruction — did not intend to “close GITMO” at all but rather to re-locate it , maintaining its defining injustice of indefinite detention. But the events of the last three days have obliterated the last remaining excuse. In order to secure the release of American POW Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the Obama administration agreed to release from ...

Bowe Bergdahl Release: Email Exchange Reveals Extent of US Failure In Afghan War

Bowe Bergdahl Release: Email Exchange Reveals Extent of US Failure In Afghan War Bowe Bergdahl Release: Email Exchange Reveals Extent of US Failure In Afghan War 'The US army is the biggest joke the world has to laugh at,' wrote Sergeant Bergdahl in an email later published by Rolling Stone magazine By Patrick Cockburn June 03, 2014 " ICH " - " The Independent " - It is a bitter indictment of an army in trouble. It was written by the American soldier Bowe Bergdahl in his last email to his parents sent just before he walked off his base in eastern Afghanistan on 30 June 2009. Within hours, he was picked by the Taliban who held him for five years until his exchange for five senior Taliban leaders held in the US prison at Guantanamo Bay...

Concept of Deity” And The Destruction of Black Civilization

Concept of Deity” And The Destruction of Black Civilization "Concept of Deity” by Dr. John Henrik Clarke To hold a people in oppression you have to convince them first that they are supposed to be oppressed. When the European comes to a country, the first thing he does is to laugh at your God and your God concept. And the next thing is to make you laugh at your own God concept. Then he don't have to build no jails for you then, cause he's got you in a jail more binding than iron can ever put you. Anytime you turn on your own concept of God, you are no longer a free man. No one needs to put chains on your body, because the chains are on your mind. Anytime someone say's your God is ugly and you release your God and join their God, there is no hope for your freedom until you once more b...

Report: Israel Spied On Bill Clinton

Report: Israel Spied On Bill Clinton   Report: Israel Spied On Bill Clinton Newsweek's latest report on alleged Israeli espionage cites new book claiming Israel tapped the ex-president, and other leaders', phone calls. By Haaretz May 31 2014 " ICH " - " Haaretz " - In Newsweek's most recent report on Israeli espionage on the United States, the magazine claims that Israel listened in on phone calls between former U.S. President Bill Clinton and other leaders during critical stages of the Middle East peace talks in 1999. According to the report, which cites British-Israeli political scientist Aharon Bregman's upcoming book "Cursed Victory: A History of Israel and the Occupied Territories," Israeli intelligence eavesdropped on conversations b...

Rethinking US Foreign Policy

US Interventionism Has Failed, But…

US Interventionism Has Failed, But… US Interventionism Has Failed, But… By Zhao Jinglun May 31 2014 " ICH " - " China.org " - America's military interventions have clearly failed. The Afghan and Iraq wars have been strategic disasters. And its intervention in Libya has proved counterproductive. The American people are sick and tired of thirteen years of unending wars. And President Obama himself has promised to end wars. Yet in his commencement address at West Point delivered on May 28, Obama repeated the threadbare claim that "the United States is and remains the one indispensable nation," and that "America has rarely been stronger relative to the rest of the world." And he asserted that the question "is not whether America will lead but h...

Ukraine & Syria: Elections of Mass Destruction

Ukraine & Syria: Elections of Mass Destruction May 31 2014 " ICH " - " NEO " - Early polls began for Syria’s presidential election,  as the country begins turning the tide against foreign-backed terrorists  and restoring order throughout much of the country. It was impossible for the Western media to cover up tens of thousands of Syrians around the world queuing up in impressive numbers to cast their votes in support of both President Bashar al-Assad and other candidates participating in the election. Despite eagerness to vote, the US, UK, EU, and others have decided to condemn the elections and even go as far as obstructing overseas polling.
