My answer to abc's NIGHTLINE

Terry Moran, I have watched your program that you are reporting from Baquba area where resistance forces battling American invaders and their Iraqi military trainees who are torturing and killing Sunni Arabs simply because they are fighting to free their land as ordained by international law from invaders. I am surprised but not shocked when you call resistance forces “bad guys and Islamic terrorists” in fact you know who was terrorized by 500 lb. bombs, missiles, airplanes, from ship and many more delivery system. You know the use of phosphorous that burn to the bone; and destruction of cities including Fallujah. Now you say to people whose country is getting raped bad guys? All these people who are blowing Shiite Masjids are bad guys but who are they? You or I have no answers. You need to stand up for the truth because you are reporter, you need to help humanity by reporting the truth, but if you get paid by pentagon or Whitehouse, then there is no point of what I said. For propagan...

Christianity, Mercy, War, and the Bush Gang

"Military historian: 'the most foolish war' in over 2000 years" " A withdrawal probably will require several months and incur a sizable number of casualties. As the pullout proceeds, Iraq almost certainly will sink into an all-out civil war from which it will take the country a long time to emerge — if, indeed, it can do so at all. All this is inevitable and will take place whether George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Condoleezza Rice like it or not." “And who are these people throwing stones? Are they really without error or sin? What are these laws they propose that would remove a persons right to choose? That would remove the choices that allow us to have morality? Do they not see that if they can not choose they can not be moral? Who are these people who have forgotten that Christians were outlawed by the Roman Empire? That Protestants were outlawed by the Catholic Church? That the founders of this country could not freely choose their own fa...

Leaving Iraq

Since there is no good alternative for sticking around, Bush has to say Iraqis are ready to take over and we are on our way out . This could have been done long time ago however, better now then wait. Well the religious fundamentalists already waiting to take care of business and I am not sure how Iraq going to be turned out under them .

America and peoples right.

These nuts in the pentagon who couldn’t win a war they created in Iraq wanted to arrest people who live in America in the name of national security. The creation of new agencies one after another though is far from solving the mess we are in . In fact in a rare moment that might have prevent the 9-1-1 attack, the agencies who supposed to follow on leads neglected one of the fattest information ever to land on their desk The problem of creating more agencies rather than strengthen what is already in place is adding more bureaucracy on top of already difficult coordinations the agents having. My concern is though more of how individuals live in liberty if they are getting harrased, arrested or even worst: cracking down on decedents as if they are committed treason; or calling them traitors when they stand for peace and justice. A government who opposed a proposal which emphasis torturing suspected enemy should not be practiced can’t be trusted at all. " Nacer Fathi Mustafa a...

"American Hiroshima – the next 9/11?"

"But when your country is fighting a war, you have an obligation to understand what’s really going on. If you don’t, you can become an agent of injustice. If people can find the time to watch baseball or soccer etc, they can make an effort to read, travel, talk and not be limited to the messages of fear. " "History teaches us that when you form alliances that promote injustice, you can only expect injustice in the future. Kindness begets kindness and the inverse is also true."

Your family is not told where you were taken. After your initial interrogation, you are taken to a plane: it takes off, but no one tells you where it’s going and when it lands you don’t even know what country you’re in......" http://www.amnesty.org/actnow/

Democracy at Work in America Part 1

Democracy at Work in America Part 1 Democracy in its ideal sense is the notion that "the people" should have the right to rule themselves. that is so taking for granted in the US. I begun to understand what democracy is as a teenager when I heard that attempt on President Reagan’s life had taken place and the alleged assassin was captured immediately. The most striking thing to me was the fact that the shooter John Hinckley had his day in court and found not guilty by reason of insanity: that is when I knew that democracy included the rule of law; the accused is innocent before found guilty. I am Ethiopian and I was living in Ethiopia at that time, there wasn’t democracy in Ethiopia nor was it a rule of law. I asked my self then why Ethiopia has no system of a government that is adhere to democratic system, it was that notion the most bothersome to me than how poor Ethiopia was (still is). The only connection I had with democratic countries was through Voice of America (VOA)...

The sad story of Iraq

In the last few days there is a talk about the US plan to drawdown troop level. This is contrary to many war lovers like Hillary Clinton and John McCain who advocate more troops to defeat the “terrorists” on Tuesday, Nov 15, 2005 press release McCain said, “Reading through each version, one gets the sense that the Senate’s foremost objective is the drawdown of American troops. But America’s first goal in Iraq is not to withdraw troops, it is to win the war. All other policy decisions we make should support, and be subordinate to, the successful completion of our mission. If that means we can draw down troop levels and win in Iraq in 2006, that is wonderful. But if success requires an increase in American troop levels in 2006, then we should increase our numbers there.” I guess that is not going to happen is it? The Whitehouse is ready to flea from Iraq before the “terrorists” defeated. In the mean time, innocent Iraqis are blown up everywhere, it has been going on ever since their ...

Ethiopian election

Almost a decade and half ago a brutal dictator of Ethiopia Mengistu Hailemariam overthrown by TPLF dominated EPRDF. Since then Eritreans’ chose to be independence from Ethiopia and election of sorts took place: the May, 2005 election is one example. Unfortunately for Ethiopia, the opposition group led by chauvinist group CUD rejected the election despite its’ sweep of Addis Ababa the capital city of Ethiopia and the return of bloodbath that unleashed on protesters in which tens of people perished. Although the killing of demonstrators the ugly face of narrow ethnic group government of Meles Zenawi, the opposition group led by warmongers and former officials of derg government responsible for acts of violence in which Ethiopia need less. I applause the government of Meles for what he has done so far, but 14 years as head of state in any country should be looked at a bad sign least one can think s(he) is invincible and none can be done without.

The Oxford Research Group

If you believe the report by The Oxford Research Group , they are indicating that the war on Iraq could drag on for decades. My problem with this report is the reliability of knowing what will Iraqi looks or how the “war on terror” turn out to be decades from now. The whole world didn’t foresee the mightiest army buckled under the pressure of ragtag resistance forces that lack unified political goal. Did The Oxford Research Group saw that too? No one knows what is going to happen tomorrow let alone decades from now. When I saw Iraqis’ started resisting right after Bush declare the major combat is over ; I knew then, they will free their country from the greatest menace of all times no matter how long it takes. The Iraqi Resistance to sacrifice and pay the price for freedom embolden the passive antiwar movements to extent even the war mongers knew better to call the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq. The Oxford Research Group or many research groups who churn out reports after re...

Iraqi resistance forces must be joyous

The last few days saw the rise of Iraqi nation as a unified force make solidarity with Sunni Arabs and nationalist forces telling Bush and his company killing your troops is legitimate. This is the most disastrous news ever delivered to Bush by far from Iraq. If this agreement between the three major communities stick I see hope in rebuilding Iraq that is devastated by the US. Realizing the grave situation they affirmed terrorism and occupation the two extremes are out of window, perhaps the Bush gang and Abu Musab needs a place to fight other than Iraq, perhaps out of this world.

war is terror

After the Vietnam war defeat and the slaughter of 2 million Vietnamese the US left without admitting the crime it committed. LBJ was so ashamed of himself, didn't run for presidency for second time. Unfortunately for Iraq, the US fell under Bush who didn't experience war nor did he litsen the generals including Shenseki who advocated larger force to stabilize Iraq. Now after two and half years, Bush is told by Iraqis to go home in shame. I wonder who benefited from this illegal invasion and occupation. for those of us who called the invasion would be a disaster for the US, Iraq and the region, it bear fruit in a way we all expected.
