On May 1, 2003, President George W. Bush declared an end to major combat in Iraq. Since then, hostilities and death tolls continue to rise. Tensions between the once dominant Sunni minority and Shia majority also continue to escalate. This report lists significant recent events in Iraq. Sources include, but are not limited, to White House press releases, the U.S. Department of State, U.N. Secretary-General’s statements, and major news stories. For analysis and further review of the current situation, see CRS Report RL31339, Iraq: Post-Saddam Governance and Security, by Kenneth Katzman. This report will be updated regularly.

The New Turn- by Justin Raimondo

The New Turn- by Justin Raimondo : "To understand what is going on with the $60 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and a number of small Gulf potentates – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the UAE – we have to go back to Seymour Hersh's last piece in the New Yorker, 'The Redirection,' which revealed, among other things, that the U.S. is funding Sunni radical groups possibly linked to al-Qaeda in Lebanon and in the Eastern reaches of Iran. It's all part of a new turn in American foreign policy in the Middle East, toward the Sunni 'mainstream' and away from our former Shi'ite allies-of-convenience in Iraq. Having smashed the Ba'athist regime and handed Mesopotamia over to the Iranians, the Americans are taking a U-turn and aligning with their former enemies in readiness for the next war of 'liberation' on the neocon agenda: the battle for Iran."
This article only confirms a known fact: America never cared about democracy in Mid-East or in any other region as long as the regimes offer something the multi billion companies in America wants. In fact the most hideous countries such as Egypt, Israel and Saudi Arabia are and has been for decades recipient of Americas support in every regard. helping the racist Zionist despite their crimes for more than 60 years. the Zionist control of the USA. The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy Not One More Dollar for Israel !!!
