Gen. McChrystal: Pakistani Govt Aiding Taliban -- News from Antiwar.com

Gen. McChrystal: Pakistani Govt Aiding Taliban -- News from Antiwar.com: When details about Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s heavily redacted assessment of the ongoing war in Afghanistan emerged yesterday, the fact that he accused Iran of having a “troubling” influence in the nation was hardly shocking. Pointing the finger at Iran in official US documents detailing foreign policy failures has become so commonplace as to be nearly cliche.
But Gen. McChrystal’s comments didn’t stop there. The Los Angeles Times is now reporting that Gen. McChrystal also accused the Pakistani government of working to undermine US interests and destablize the Afghan government.

The comments were reportedly directly primarily at the powerful Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Agency, one of Pakistan’s many spy agencies which the US has long accused of ties with militants.

Though the comments were likely never intended for public consumption they are likely to fuel the growing US-Pakistani rift, widened dramatically after US Ambassador Anne Patterson publicly condemned the government last week for not fighting enough conflicts along the Afghan border.

The Arab Peace Initiative was based on what fallaciously became known as the "international consensus" for the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, that of "two states, for two peoples," championed by the Zionist left as well as Israel's patrons in the West. The plan represented a rare united front a...

Iraqi weapons 'expert' unmasked as a fraud - Independent Online Edition > Americas : "The Iraqi defector whose claims regarding Saddam Hussein's biological warfare capabilities were central to the US government's case for the 2003 invasion, despite repeated warnings that they were dubious, has been unmasked by a television documentary. The informer, codenamed Curveball was Rafid Ahmed Alwan who, in 1999, turned up at a refugee centre in Germany seeking political asylum. He went on to convince the Pentagon he was a brilliant chemist who had helped develop mobile biological warfare laboratories."
